Kumba Lodge /
Kumba Lodge is a sanctuary for conscious adventurers, situated right on the beautiful Tofo beachfront. Here you can indulge in an ideal mix of nature, movement, relaxation, food and community. The lodge was built in 2020-2021 (born in the pandemic!) and is the perfect place to take a break and to explore wide open spaces.
A visit to Kumba means to return to nature and soak up the serene beauty of the environment. A place to relax, unwind and rest in stillness. An opportunity to nourish your body with healthy foods and wholesome movement practices. A sanctuary to unveil your true potential and create the space for growth and transformation.

Our Retreat /
This retreat is designed for providing space for both relaxation & adventure. You can have one or the other, or a little bit of both. Tofo is a great place to explore Moçambique, it’s safe and family friendly
We’ll start and end each day with a yoga practice in our oceanfront shala. The classes will be a mix of everything, tailored to the group’s needs on the day. Knowing both Kara & Lisa loves Rocket & Strong Vinyasas you can expect to sweat at least once a day as well as having some wonderful Yin Yoga & Meditation mixed in with the day-to-day practices!
We’ll have both breakfast and 8x dinners included in our stay, and during lunchtime you can either order delicious food at the lodge or explore our surroundings for other delicacies.
During the days there are plenty of activities to do both at the lodge and outside. At Kumba Lodge you can lounge at the beach or by the pool or go for a massage or a treatment. There are lots of daytrips to take nearby, have a look below for the beautiful cultural places in our surrounding areas.

Ocean Safari
Hop on a boat trip that takes you around the coast of Tofo in search of Whale Sharks, Giant Mantas, Dolphins and Humpback Whales. Everyone aboard is encouraged to jump in and snorkel alongside these magnificent creatures!
Each trip is lead by an experienced rescue diver. You’ll receive a full briefing on our boat launch procedures and the code of conduct when snorkelling with the sea life.
Surf Lessons
Tofo is the perfect place to learn how to surf! With its warm waters, sandy-bottom breaks, and gentle waves, it’s an ideal spot for both beginners and those looking to refine their skills. Join a one-on-one surf lesson with a skilled local instructor who will guide you through the fundamentals, from paddling and popping up to balancing and catching your first wave. Your instructor will tailor the session to your level, ensuring you build confidence and have fun along the way.
Diving
Tofo is a world-class dive destination, ranked among the best in Africa. Known for its incredible marine biodiversity, this underwater paradise offers everything from exhilarating encounters with manta rays and whale sharks to exploring seldom-dived reefs teeming with life. Pansy Island & Snorkeling
Hop on a traditional dhow sailing boat for a half or full day out on the Inhambane Lagoon.
Enjoy the open space, peaceful clear waters, finding pansy shells on Pansy Island and spotting sea horses, octopus and lots of different fish species while snorkeling.
Horseback Riding
Discover Tofo’s breathtaking coastline on horseback with a 90-minute guided tour along the beach and through the local village. Feel the freedom of riding along golden sands with the ocean breeze in your hair, then immerse yourself in the charm of village life as you explore scenic trails beyond the shoreline.

There are flights from Prague to Maputo with both Qatar Airlines & TAP Portugal with just one layover. From Maputo you can either take a short flight to Inhambane with LAM Airlines or take an exhilarating 8h bus-journey through the beautiful countryside directly to Tofo.
